Irina started Phoenix Botanicals in 2005. She apprenticed 3 years with NY herbalist Robin Rose Bennett, and worked over 2 years at Flower Power Herbs & Roots, with Latta Chettri Kennedy. Working in ethnobotany research exposed her to many cultural and therapeutic uses of plants. Living in Brooklyn, she loves taking trips to the wild! She enjoys sharing the gifts of healing plants, and has led herbal workshops in community gardens and at NY stores.
Our name has two inspirations. The feeling of being reborn while spending time in nature, hiking or gathering plants- like a Phoenix! Oh and there's an adopted cockatiel of the same name. Since Phoenix gets to oversee the operations, he got the CEO position. He adds his whistles and bird love to the mix.
