Irina started Phoenix Botanicals in 2005. She apprenticed several years with NY herbalists Robin Rose Bennett and Lata Kennedy, learned with several other herbalists and naturalists, and worked over two years at NY's Flower Power Herbs & Roots. The plants themselves have a lot to teach when we pay attention.! Working in ethnobotany research and indigenous culture preservation also exposed her to many cultural and therapeutic uses of plants. Living in Brooklyn, she loves taking trips to the wild.
The name has two inspirations: The feeling of being reborn while spending time in nature- like a Phoenix! Oh and there's an adopted cockatiel of the same name. Phoenix is the CEO- he literally oversees the operations, adding his whistles and bird love to the mix.
